In this hands-on masterclass, Alex Bostic (Figurative artist and illustrator ) and Renée Reizman ( Artist and founder of Disability Drawing Club) will guide you through the process of creating figurative portraits using pencil. Exploring concepts of inclusion and universality we will be using a model with a disability as a subject for the class. No experience required.

Alex Bostic is a nationally recognized realist painter. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, he developed a love for the arts, attending Pratt Institute on weekends. It was during these years that Alex began to understand what it meant to pursue a career as an artist. Initially interested in comic book characters, he eventually transitioned into creating his own. Alex earned a BFA in Illustration from Pratt Institute in 1979, followed by an MA in Illustration from Syracuse University in 1994. After more than 40 years as an illustrator, Alex focused on his personal work and is now a traditional figurative artist.

Renée Reizman is disabled, Jewish, interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator. She works with communities to reveal the ways infrastructure and public policy contribute to social inequality. She is the founder of Disability Drawing Club, and currently an adjunct assistant professor at Pepperdine University and the University of Southern California.

Click into the form here to reserve your place. Participation is limited to 20 individuals. You will receive a confirmation email upon registration. Any remaining spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the event.
