As a young girl, Elyse grew up backpacking and hiking throughout the Rocky Mountains. These experiences and her growing love of National Parks have become recurring subject matter in my work. She document areas of the parks by collecting rocks found on various journeys both physical and spiritual. Elyse transforms the conventional landscape into abstract images inspired from these rocks in color and geological formation. Through a process of addition and subtraction, heavily watered down acrylic paint transforms the solid and static to the soft and ephemeral.
